Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) has officially unveiled the QRISE-Quantum Research Interdisciplinary Science and Education-center, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of quantum science in the U.S. The announcement took place on October 31, 2025, with university President Sidney A. McPhee, Dean Greg Van Patten, and associate professor Hanna Terletska in attendance.
QRISE aims to be a world-class hub for quantum discovery, innovation, education, and workforce development. Under the leadership of Terletska, MTSU has already secured millions in federal grant funding for groundbreaking research and development efforts in quantum technologies. The center will foster collaboration among students, faculty, and leading research institutions, driving breakthroughs in areas such as quantum computing, national security, finance, healthcare, and new materials.
QRISE will also serve as the lead partner for TN-QuMat, a collaborative initiative involving Oak Ridge National Laboratory, TSU, Fisk University, and Meharry Medical College. The project is supported by the U.S. Department of Energy’s RENEW initiative, dedicated to training the next generation of scientists and engineers in critical national research areas.
