The latest episode of the Government of India’s Digital India “Ask Our Experts” series, titled “Quantum Security for Every Citizen,” addresses how emerging quantum computers could undermine today’s encryption and expose everyday digital services to unprecedented cyber risks. Hosted as an online session on 19 December 2025, the programme frames quantum-safe security as a public necessity rather than a purely academic or defence topic, emphasising that citizens’ banking, identity, and communications data must be protected against future decryption attacks.
Featuring senior scientist Dr. Anindita Banerjee from C-DAC Pune and experts associated with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the discussion explores practical post-quantum cryptography, quantum key distribution, and resilient security architectures for governments, industry, and critical infrastructure. By highlighting India’s national quantum initiatives and encouraging citizens to understand quantum-era threats, the session positions the country to build future-ready cybersecurity frameworks that can withstand advances in computing power while supporting secure digital transformation at scale.
