On November 10, 2025, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) announced the formation of the Quantum Scaling Alliance, a global consortium of eight leading technology organizations dedicated to making quantum computing scalable, practical, and transformative across various industries. The alliance aims to move quantum computing beyond proof-of-principle experiments to real-world, industry-scale applications by leveraging expertise from supercomputing, semiconductor design, and quantum research.
The initiative is overseen by Dr. Masoud Mohseni of HPE Labs, with co-leadership from 2025 Nobel Laureate John Martinis, co-founder and CTO at Qolab. Founding members contribute specialized skills including fault-tolerant quantum error correction, materials engineering, hybrid quantum-classical control, and quantum algorithm development.
HPE’s collaboration focuses on integrating quantum capabilities with classical high-performance computing and advanced networking to unlock breakthroughs in drug discovery, materials science, optimization, and secure data processing. The alliance emphasizes a full-stack, horizontal integration approach that combines quantum and classical supercomputing systems, aiming to accelerate productivity gains and prepare for challenges in post-quantum security.
The Quantum Scaling Alliance exemplifies a major step forward in making quantum computing a viable, scalable technology transforming industries worldwide.
