Singapore’s National Quantum Office (NQO), under the leadership of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), has entered a strategic partnership with Quantinuum, a top global quantum computing company, to propel quantum computing advancements in the region. This partnership marks a significant milestone in Singapore’s ambitious National Quantum Strategy aimed at positioning the country as a global quantum hub.
Central to the collaboration is the introduction of Quantinuum’s Helios quantum computer, which is planned to be set up in Singapore in 2026. This will be the first installation of the Helios system outside the United States, offering local researchers and companies direct and cloud-based access to cutting-edge quantum computational power.
Additionally, Quantinuum will establish a dedicated R&D and Operations Centre in Singapore, uniting company experts with local investors, researchers, and industry partners. This centre will focus on developing practical quantum applications that blend classical and quantum computing, targeting key sectors such as drug discovery, advanced materials, and financial analytics.
The collaboration also aims to build local quantum talent through internships and co-hosted workshops, contributing to a vibrant and innovative quantum community. By accelerating research and commercial adoption of quantum technologies, this partnership is expected to enhance Singapore’s competitiveness in the global digital economy.
This strategic move highlights Singapore’s commitment to fostering a robust quantum ecosystem, enabling the translation of advanced quantum research into real-world impact.
